I found my first year at Mines pretty challenging. I went through high school with straight As so the first D I got on a test was pretty shocking and devastating to me. I learned that I couldn't get through this alone and I learned how to ask for help. I found so much support at Mines and that the community was stronger because everyone works together to get through the classes, because everyone struggles. I thought the professors were very engaging and cared about us learning the material as well as us doing well in their classes. I was able to learn so much both academically and socially. I really enjoyed my first year at Mines and I can't wait to learn more in the next few years.

I love Colorado School of Mines because it provides the perfect academic environment for growth, challenge, and maturity. This school develops habits and character that allow for a successful career and correct work-life balance. I would like to see the campus food improved because the cafeteria is lacking. However, it has been a positive experience overall.

I like the acceptance within the school because everyone knows the difficulty that comes with taking academic courses at this university so everyone is open to helping each other. Additionally, even at a predominantly white university, I’ve never felt like I didn’t belong which was one of my biggest concerns when making the decision to attend this university. I’ve felt included since the first day and I’ve never been judged or looked at differently just because of my race or appearance.
