Mark is also a distinguished member of the American Meteorological Society, a recognition he’s achieved with the prestigious AMS Seal of Approval. His fascination with weather began at an early age, with a memorable moment as a Cub Scout touring a television station in his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the tender age of 8.
This enduring interest led him to start his on-air career while still a junior in college, returning to the very station where he had once interned in Tulsa. Following his college days, Mark ventured to Little Rock, Arkansas, for his inaugural full-time job, where he earned an Associated Press award for the “Best Weather Segment” for a summer heat demonstration. He was also instrumental in the establishment and growth of his station’s local Weather Net. Having grown up and worked in Oklahoma, renowned for its position in Tornado Alley, and subsequently gaining experience in Arkansas, Mark has honed his expertise in dealing with all forms of extreme weather.
